Prior to joining Stirling Psychology, Lorraine spent most of her career in the not-for-profit and mental health sector. Lorraine has over 20 years of experience in providing direct support to individuals in residential settings, as well as leading teams of professionals who provided services in these settings. Lorraine also brings a wealth of experience in planning, developing and implementing a range of mental health and well-being programs.

Lorraine is committed to her ongoing learning and professional development and more than 10 years ago decided to return to university to complete postgraduate studies in psychology. Lorraine has extensive experience supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations across a range of settings. Lorraine thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to work with clients one-one in the therapeutic setting and over 6 years ago Lorraine made the decision to work with clients privately on the Mornington Peninsula.

Lorraine has a particular interest in women’s health as well as working with clients who have experienced trauma and men and women with chronic health conditions. She is a warm, insightful clinical psychologist who brings a wealth of experience to the therapeutic relationship.

She offers support to adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stress-related disorders, dissociative and somatic conditions. Her range of experience includes working with individuals impacted by childhood adversity, traumatic events, grief, workplace issues, health problems and relationship difficulties.

Qualifications

Lorraine is a registered Clinical Psychologist. Lorraine’s level of training and education led to her receiving clinical endorsement through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

She completed undergraduate studies in psychology before returning to university to complete her Honours in Psychology. She later went onto to complete a Masters in Clinical Psychology through Swinburne University.

Research/ Area of Interest

Lorraine is passionate about the treatment of trauma-related problems and persistent pain disorders. Lorraine’s interest in trauma led her to conduct research that explored how emotional intelligence is related to posttraumatic growth.

Lorraine is committed to staying up to date with the latest research and treatment approaches. Lorraine’s commitment to contributing to the growing evidence- base of psychological approaches to managing chronic pain, resulted in her Masters thesis which explored Fibromyalgia, Well-being and Psychological Flexibility.

Lorraine is an experienced clinician who offers a warm, supportive, professional approach in empowering individuals to overcome challenges and develop clarity and insight. She offers a compassionate, considered, evidence-based approach to treatment that ensures her clients feel safe and supported in sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. 

Lorraine’s approach to treatment is collaborative, and tailored to each clients’ individual needs. She draws from a number of evidence-based frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Schema Therapy. Her compassionate, caring, and mindful approach allows her clients to feel relaxed and comfortable within the therapeutic environment.
